STANDARD INFORMATION & TERMS
Preparation Requirements
• All items must be fully drained of free liquids (oil, fuel, coolant, solvents, water, etc.) prior to delivery.
• For sandblasting, vapour blasting and laser cleaning: items must be free of heavy external oil, grease, mud and loose contamination before delivery.
• Ultrasonic cleaning is intended to remove oils, grease and internal contamination and does not require pre-degreasing.
• Additional cleaning, fluid removal or decontamination, if required, will incur additional charges at standard rates.
Disassembly & Assembled Components
• Quotes and estimates are based on items being supplied disassembled and ready to clean or blast.
• Removal or refit of tyres, valves, bearings, seals, trim, wiring, glass or similar is not included unless specifically listed as an add-on.
• Where disassembly is required, it may be offered at Bundaberg Laser Cleaning’s discretion and is chargeable at standard rates. Some items may be declined until supplied fully stripped.
• Cleaning effectiveness for all processes depends on physical access to surfaces and internal passages; sealed, blind or shielded areas may retain contamination.
• Parts containing sealed bearings, electronics, lubricated internals, coatings or other sensitive components must be disclosed prior to cleaning.
• Where ultrasonic cleaning of assembled or partially assembled components is specifically requested, it is performed entirely at the customer’s risk due to fluid ingress, seal disturbance and potential internal contamination.
• Examples include, but are not limited to, starter motors, alternators, turbochargers, pumps, actuators and electronic assemblies.
Variations
• Quotes and estimates are based on the visible and/or described condition of the item.
• If the actual condition differs from the description or photos — for example hidden filler, epoxy coatings, heavy rust or pitting, bitumen/sound-deadener or chemical residue — work will pause and the customer will be contacted before any material change in price or scope.
After-Care / Flash Rust
• Bare steel can flash-rust quickly. Priming within 24–48 hours of collection is recommended.
• Vapour-blasted alloy finishes may re-oxidise if left unsealed. Polishing and sealing, clear coating or painting within 72 hours is recommended for best appearance.
• Bundaberg Laser Cleaning is not responsible for deterioration, flash rust, contamination or damage occurring after collection or as a result of delayed collection, storage, transport or subsequent handling.
Process Outcomes — General Guide
Sandblasting: Produces a profiled matte finish ideal for painting or coating. Removes rust, coatings and surface contamination. Where corrosion, pitting or previous damage is present, removal may require the loss of base material and may expose thin sections, holes or defects. Sandblasting does not restore metal thickness or repair structural damage.
Vapour Blasting: Leaves a satin to semi-polished finish depending on the starting condition. Removes light oxidation and surface contamination. Vapour blasting improves appearance but does not remove corrosion pitting, metal loss or casting defects.
Laser Cleaning: Removes light to moderate surface rust and some coatings, depending on their type and thickness. Heavy rust, scale and deep corrosion may not be fully removed. Coating removal performance varies by material, colour, formulation and build-up, and test passes may be required to determine suitability. Laser cleaning does not remove mill scale or repair physical damage. Surface appearance varies from polished to matte depending on material and condition, and laser pass patterns or scan lines may remain on finished metal and may require hand polishing where a uniform cosmetic finish is required.
Ultrasonic Cleaning: Removes oils, grease, carbon, coolant residue and fine contamination from accessible internal and external surfaces. Cleaning effectiveness depends on fluid access and drainage; sealed, blind or shielded areas may retain contamination. Staining, heat discolouration, oxidation, baked-on coke and rust may not be fully removed. Ultrasonic cleaning does not repair wear, corrosion or physical damage.
Collection
• Collection is requested within 48 hours of notification that work is complete, unless otherwise arranged.
Payment & Collection Conditions
• Workshop jobs — payment in full is required at pickup. Goods will not be released until payment has been made in full.
• Mobile jobs — a 50% deposit is required to confirm the booking, with the balance due on completion prior to departure.
• Inspection and sign-off are required at collection/completion. The customer is responsible for inspecting the completed work before accepting the item. Once the work and condition of the item have been inspected and accepted at sign-off, no further claims or adjustments relating to the condition or finish accepted at collection will be considered.
• Items not collected within seven (7) days of notification that work is complete may incur reasonable storage charges unless prior arrangements have been made.
• Rework required due to delayed collection, flash rust, contamination, storage, transport or post-collection handling is chargeable at standard rates.
• Goods remaining uncollected and/or unpaid for an extended period may ultimately be dealt with in accordance with applicable Queensland uncollected-goods legislation. This may include recovery of amounts owing and, where legally permitted and following any required notice or process, sale or other disposal of the goods.
Standard Exclusions & Limitations
• External and directly accessible surfaces only — enclosed, sealed or closed internal cavities are not included unless specifically agreed.
• No priming, painting, repairs, straightening, welding or disassembly/reassembly is included unless specifically listed as an add-on.
• Cleaning effectiveness is limited by access, geometry and the condition of the item supplied.
Terms & Conditions
All work is performed subject to these Standard Information & Terms.
While every reasonable effort is made to ensure items are handled and processed with care, sandblasting, vapour blasting, ultrasonic cleaning and laser cleaning are restoration and cleaning processes involving inherent risks, particularly when applied to thin, unsupported, corroded, deteriorated, previously repaired or otherwise compromised materials.
Cleaning may reveal or expose pre-existing damage, hidden filler, corrosion, pitting, previous repairs, weakened material, coatings, defects or other conditions that were not visible prior to commencement of work. Bundaberg Laser Cleaning accepts no responsibility for pre-existing conditions or defects revealed during the cleaning process.
No guarantee is given that all coatings, rust, staining, contamination or imperfections will be completely removed, or that subsequent paints, coatings or other finishes will adhere to the cleaned surface.
To the extent permitted by law, Bundaberg Laser Cleaning’s liability for loss or damage arising from work performed on an item is limited to the value of the work performed on the affected item. Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable Australian consumer law.
Quotes and estimates are based on the visible and/or described condition and agreed scope of work. Where the actual condition or required work differs materially from that information, the customer will be contacted before proceeding with any material variation in price or scope.
Collection is requested within 48 hours of notification of completion. Items remaining uncollected after seven (7) days may incur reasonable storage charges unless otherwise arranged. Goods remaining uncollected for an extended period may be dealt with in accordance with applicable Queensland uncollected-goods legislation.
